In 2009 the Parish Council voted to part fund what was known officially as a ‘Match Funded Police Community Support Officer’. The part funding was in conjunction with Kesgrave Town Council who provided two-thirds of the money with our Parish Council providing one third of 50% of the total cost of keeping the PCSO on the beat. The remaining 50% is funded by the police. The police also fund the training and uniform/equipment for the PCSO. The PCSO shares his time exclusively between Kesgrave (two-thirds) and Rushmere St Andrew (one-third). Our second PCSO to hold the post since the scheme began is Mike Sarbutts, who has been very effectively patrolling the area since early 2011.
