Suffolk Coastal … where quality of life counts
Films chosen for Felixstowe’s free open-air cinema
The films to be shown at Felixstowe’s free open-air cinema during the summer holidays have now been chosen.
The public were asked to send in their film ideas to be shown at the open-air cinema coming to the Beachside Events Area in Felixstowe on Saturday, 29 July.
Three films will be shown throughout the day; Finding Nemo at 11am, The Goonies (12) at 2pm and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (PG) at 6pm.
Our partners Places for People Leisure will be providing refreshments on the day outside Felixstowe Leisure Centre.
The public are invited to bring their own picnic blankets and to also be prepared for all weather conditions by bringing warm clothes, sun cream, waterproofs and umbrellas.
The free, one-day event is being supported by the Felixstowe Town Council’s Youth Forum who have provided £2,000 in funding.
Work to create the multi-use Beachside Events Area was completed in September and since then has been used to host a number of local events such as the circus and Suffolk Armed Forces weekend.
The work to develop the area is part of a package of improvements across the future, investing in the future prosperity of Felixstowe and making a more appealing place for local people and visitors to the area.
Cllr TJ Haworth-Culf, cabinet member for Customers, Communities and Leisure, said: “Thank you to everyone who sent in their seaside-themed film suggestions. “The day promises to be fun for the whole family and people are invited to bring along their blankets and refreshments will be available in the space.
“We hope the public will enjoy this free event and the films which are sure to suit everybody at this fantastic space right on Felixstowe’s seafront.”
